SARTER KIT TIME GOT RELATIVE
Weimar-based three-piece Sarter Kit have revealed their new single, ‘Time Got Relative’. At the front of the rhythmically shifting, effortlessly groovy tracks sits the minimalistic yet experimental saxophone of Tara Sarter. Despite being filled with polyrhythms and dissonance, the track is an exercise in restraint; every note is played with purpose and weight, avoiding the unnecessary maximalism that often takes experimental music in the wrong direction. Tara Sarter explains: “We don’t appreciate the time we actually have. The world and living is so rushed, people think “I'll just do that very quickly” instead of giving ourselves the time to do those things consciously and care. Sometimes it feels so random and relative how we live, think, decide. Do we even have (take) time to recognize how we interact together for example towards nature or animals or even ourselves.” Sarter Kit are gearing up to release their debut album, What I am and What I’m Not, on March 21st, 2025, via Squama Recordings. -Dan Peeke
